CHOOSE THE RIGHT COUNTERTOP
To find the best worktop for your kitchen, you first need to think
through what expectations you have for your new kitchen bench.
Three questions that are good to think through are:
HOW DO YOU USE YOUR KITCHEN?
It's a lot about how your family looks and what you use the kitchen for
in everyday life. Do you have children who want to join in the kitchen? Do you bake a lot, or do you often use foods that release a lot of juice or color? Can you imagine spending a little extra time on cleaning and regular maintenance? All of this has implications for which worktop you should choose.
WHAT STYLE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
The right worktop is a large part of the visual expression of the kitchen. Material, color, structure and thickness of the worktop have a great impact on the design, and your possibilities are many. You choose which style you want to invest in.
WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET?
The price of the worktop can become a large part of your total kitchen budget if you choose an exclusive material. It is not uncommon for the price of a worktop, e.g. granite, to cost as much as the rest of the kitchen. If you want a more economical solution, you can choose a durable laminate worktop, which has a competitive price. It's all about what you prioritize.
Granit
If you want a maintenance-free worktop that is scratch-resistant and retains its beautiful nature, you should choose granite. The granite's minerals give a great hardness with both a polished, honed or flamed surface. These properties make a granite worktop less sensitive to chemical influences and easy to care for. Granite is one of the most common rock types in Sweden. It is a very hard, crack-free stone that withstands heat extremely well and is also frost-proof. With a granite countertop, the kitchen or bathroom gets an exceptionally resistant countertop that, with its unique pattern, becomes very personal and elegant.
The granite with its coarse-grained structure comes in all sorts of patterns and colors – from white to red and black.
CAESARSTONE
Composites from Caesarstone – quartz composite countertops with endless possibilities. There are colors here in shades from off-white to midnight black. Texture similar to marble, texture similar to concrete. Choose a worktop with an exclusive look or choose one that is a little more neutral.
Quartz composite is a man-made material consisting mostly of
of quartz, silica, which is one of nature's strongest minerals, and a small proportion of binders. Together, they form a construction material with character, quality and limitless design possibilities.
The advantage of a composite Caesarstone worktop is that it is easier to maintain and it is resistant to stains, cracks and scratches.
LIMESTONE
Swedish limestone as a countertop in the kitchen or bathroom doesn't sound so stupid, does it? Limestone has become very popular to use also for interior decoration because it is a very beautiful natural stone with different patterns and colors. Thanks to its different and varying constituents, such as fossil particles from molluscs and corals, limestone is an extremely lively and exciting rock in its structure.
It is worth bearing in mind that a limestone worktop gets stained more easily than, for example, granite.
With the stone's natural appearance, however, it is not very noticeable, you could say that limestone gains more character with age. As limestone is sensitive to acids, it is best cleaned with stone impregnation, which also gives the worktop continued good surface protection.
Komposit silestone
Composite board from Silestone – composite stone at its best. A combination of mostly natural quartz, mixed with other resistant raw materials that act as binding agents, results in a material that is ideal for kitchen and bathroom countertops.
Extremely durable and resistant to both scratches and stains, combined with a wide range of colors and different structures, the composite board from Silestone has become extremely appreciated in recent times. The material does not absorb liquid, so you don't have to worry about stains from either coffee, vinegar or olive oil. The worktop is very easy to maintain and withstands all types of cleaning agents.
MARBLE
Marble, perhaps the most classic material you can have in your kitchen and bathroom. An exclusive marble worktop is completely unique in its structure and no marble slab is the same. Marble is fairly easy to work with and in combination with its natural beauty it became a popular material for buildings and decoration early on. Pure marble is white. It is because of various kinds of impurities that the marble gets its special flaming pattern and fancy color, its marbling.
Marble is relatively common and is also quarried in Sweden. Two of the most famous are the light Ekebergs marble and the green Kolmårds marble and a third is the Brännlyckan marble.
A marble worktop requires a little more care than other materials, but if you treat it well, you will have a kitchen that is one of a kind. Marble makes the finishing touch on an exclusive kitchen.
